Did you know Aloe Vera can be used for so much more than just Sunburn? It sure can! Aloe Vera is great for
How To Harvest
It is best to harvest from a plant that is at least 3 years old – Those will have more potency. It is best to have a few plants so that you don't have to constantly harvest from the same plant. They don't grow extremely fast and you don't really want to cut all the branches off one without having another one in the waiting.
Remove healthy, thicker longer branches from the outside of the plant. These should be cut from the plant as close to the base as possible without cutting into the roots as the best stuff is near the root.
Wash and dry the branches and cut off the prickly edges. You can use a knife or a sharp pair of scissors.
Take the interior gel out of the branch. This is the part of the Aloe Vera plant you are going to use. Cut the gel into chunks. Place the chunks into a blender and after blending strain to remove the pulp.
It can be stored for a couple days in the refrigerator though it is best to use it right away. That being said, it is best to let it grow until you need to use it.
How to Use:
You can put the Aloe Vera you harvested directly on your skin, you may ingest it, or even use it to make beauty products. One of the great ways to ingest it would be to put it in your smoothies. :)
Is It Safe To Use:
Aloe Vera is typically well tolerated as a topical treatments for skin ailments. Be sure to talk to your doctor before starting any herbal remedies. Aloe Vera ingested can interact with some medications such as medications for Diabetes, Kidney Conditions, Renal Conditions, Cardiac Conditions. Or if you have Hemorrhoids, Crohn's Disease, or Intestinal Obstructions.
Side Effects Of Internal Use Can Be:
I have used Aloe Vera for years for burns and cuts and had great success. I have not personally used it internally. There are many Aloe Drinks out on the market and my husband is hooked on them. He had a lot of trouble with IBS and it is now going much better for him. We are not sure if it is the Aloe Drink that is helping yet a month into drinking these drinks, no more diarrhea. One of the side effects is diarrhea yet it seems this plant works different on different people which is normally the case for most medications. You have to keep track of what your body is telling you every time you place something in or on it.
