QUESTION Rachel 7/10/2020 09:40:48 am Hi Connie! Living an all natural lifestyle has been really important to me as well! There’s always so much more to learn. What are some of the all natural household items you use in your home to clean? ANSWER Connie 7/10/2020 11:51 am I use a host of items for natural cleaning in my home. I do use Borax - Not around food surfaces though. You may leave the Borax out or substitute Witch Hazel, Food Friendly Alcohol or something called Branch Basics as an alternative for the Borax. Also a dry substitute would be Fels-Naptha Soap and Baking Soda or Castile Soap and Baking Soda. Remember to always try things out to see how it works for you. = Wood Cleaner - White Vinegar, Essential Oil of your choice (There are many to choose from - Cedarwood is one of my favorites), and Water in a Spray Bottle - I didn't care much for the Vinegar Scent so I take Orange Peels and place them in a jar with my vinegar for about 2 weeks and when I go to use it, my vinegar smells more like citrus than vinegar. Now it smells like I am cleaning with citrus! You may use limes, or grapefruit. Experiment along the way. That's part of the fun! Most All Purpose & Glass Cleaner: Borax, Washing Soda, Castile Soap, Water. I add an essential oil like mint, orange, pine - I change it up as I go along. Porous Areas like Grout or Concrete, Coffee Cup Stains, Cookware, Cutting Board, Butcher Block - I make a Paste of Baking Soda and Water. Not a thick dry paste, a paste that is the consistency of toothpaste. I apply is with a toothbrush, let it set a bit - maybe 5 minutes and then scrub again with the toothbrush and rinse. Doing this often helps to make the chore easier and stains come out quicker. Bathroom Cleaner: I use Borax, Washing Soda, Sal Suds, Water and Thieves Oil. Granite Counter Tops: Be Careful when cleaning Granite Counter Tops. Vinegar and Baking Soda can strip away the finish quite easily. You can make up a cleaner that won't harm, or shouldn't harm (test to make sure) using Water, Alcohol, Castile Soap, Basil Essential Oil and Grapefruit Essential Oil. Powder Laundry Soap: Castile Soap Bar, Washing Soda, Baking Soda, Kosher Salt, Essential Oil of your choice. Like I've stated before - I like the Natural ways mixed with the Modern Conveniences. Best of both worlds. Take Care Now Rachel 7/13/2020 07:30:24 pm Thank you so much! This is very helpful information :) I’ve heard a lot about Borax but never have used it. I’ll be trying this soon!
